The Portuguese newspaper "Correio da Manhã" and many other sources reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has promised to continue playing for the Portuguese national team at least until the 2024 European Championship after his country painfully exited the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.

Fernando Santos' proteges lost 1-0 to Morocco in the quarterfinals on Saturday, and rumors have been circulating since then about Ronaldo's future in international matches. However, the striker does not want to retire and "take his last dance" at the 2024 European Football Championship.

This is stated by the newspaper "Desporto Mundial" saying that Ronaldo "believes he can continue to be useful to the national team", and that is the reason why he will not stop playing for it in the near future.

Leaving the head coach position to Fernando Santos, Ronaldo, experiencing not the best times in his career, will have to prove his worth to the next Portuguese national team strategist. Portugal will be competing for a spot in the European Championship finals against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Luxembourg, Slovakia, and Liechtenstein.
