"Real Valladolid" club's owner and legendary Brazilian footballer Ronaldo, who became a year ago, says that when playing together with Zinedine Zidane, he couldn't imagine that he would become a coach.
Z. Zidane got into coaching back in 2013 when he became an assistant to Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid. Later, he started coaching the second Real team, until finally in the winter of 2016 he became the head coach of the main team and won three UEFA Champions League titles.
"I never thought Zizou would choose coaching. I remember him as a very quiet and reserved footballer. I was really surprised to see him at the bench and later winning three Champions League trophies, something that no one else has achieved," said Ronaldo.
In Brazil's opinion, the most realistic candidate to become a coach in the then Real team seemed to be Raul, who was a long-time captain of the team and an emotional leader.
Raul is now following in the footsteps of Z. Zidane - he will work with the second Real team from next season.
"At that time, I imagined that Raul would become a coach. He had the right character traits and was a true leader for us. I have no doubt that he will succeed," added the Brazilian football legend.
