Round 11: "Milan" stunning victory © EuroFootball.com

Over the weekend, the 11th round of the Italian "Serie A" was played. Championship leaders "Milan," "Juve," and "Fiorentina" managed to beat their opponents, while Milan's "Inter" had to settle for a draw.

Impressive victory was achieved by "Milan," who won 5-1 at home against "Udinese." The Milan club, playing stronger and stronger, scored three goals in the first half, after which the visitors failed to recover and conceded two more goals in the second half. "Udinese" managed to respond in these matches only with a goal from the penalty spot by V.Iaquinta.

"Juventus" also won with a solid result of 3-0 against "Livorno." However, the defending champions had a tough match. The Turin club's players playing at home failed to send the ball into the opponents' goal until the 59th minute when Z.Ibrahimović scored. D.Trezeguet doubled the lead a minute later, and the "Livorno" trouncing was confirmed in added time by "Juventus" captain A.Del Piero.

The match at the Rome Olympic Stadium between local "Lazio" and Milan's "Inter" ended in a goalless draw. Although the home team had several opportunities in the first half, one goal was disallowed, and after the break, "Inter" players had some dangerous attacks, but both teams' goalkeepers managed to keep their nets "dry."

For the eleventh time, the "Fiorentina" team won, beating "Ascoli" 2-0 away. At the very beginning of the match, "Fiorentina" defender T.Ujfaluši sent the ball into the hosts' goal. The visitors' victory was sealed in the second half by the most successful player of the competition this year, L.Toni.

After a slow start to the season, the "Roma" club is recovering. This time, they won 2-0 away against "Messina." French defender P.Mexes scored a goal in the 34th minute. There were no doubts about the outcome of the match for the last 81 minutes when "Roma" captain F.Totti scored the second goal for his team.

Important three points in the battle for places in European tournaments were won by Genoa's "Sampdoria," who beat "Palermo" led by L.Del Neri 2-0 away. The goals for the winners were scored by A.Gasbarroni and E.Bonazzoli.

In the bottom of the table clash, "Parma" won at home against the "Lecce" team. The hosts took the lead after M.Marchionni's goal in the 31st minute, and five minutes after the end of the first half, D.Morfeo doubled the lead, which was enough for "Parma" to win three points.

In other matches of the 11th round, league newcomers "Empoli" beat "Reggina" 3-0 at home and climbed to the ninth place in the standings. The victory of the hosts was decided by goals from A.Busce, F.Tavano, and I.Vanucchi.

Away, "Chievo" won with a minimal margin, thanks to a goal from S.Pellissier in the 10th minute against "Siena," while another outsider match between "Cagliari" and "Treviso" was rather dull and ended goalless.
