On Saturday, eight matches of the 14th round of the French football championship "Ligue 1" were played. The defending champions "Lyon" secured another victory and increased their lead over the closest pursuers, while the teams of "P.S.G" and "Monaco" once again shared points.
This time, "Lyon" played away against the absolute bottom club of the championship, "Sedan", but failed to break the opponent's goal - the only goal of the match was scored by "Sedan" player Nadjinas Abdou in the 80th minute. This was already the 12th victory for "Lyon" this season, and so far Lyon's club firmly leads the championship, surpassing the closest pursuers by more than 10 points.
In second place after this round, remains the club "Lille", despite failing to beat the team of "Sochaux" - the match ended in a draw.
Capitalizing on those points, "Lens" was able to tie with "Lille" and rise to third place, playing very successfully lately and defeating "Nantes" 2-0 at home. The first goal of the match came in the first minute when Adama Coulibaly scored, and finally "Nantes" was defeated by Yaya Keita's precise strike in the 83rd minute. After this victory, "Lens" has 25 points and is 12 points behind "Lyon".
Also still sharing points this season is the struggling "Monaco" club. In this round, the "Monaco" players at home failed to beat the newcomers "Lorient", despite taking the lead with a goal from Yaya Toure in the 7th minute. Later, "Lorient" scored two goals unanswered, and only Jeremy Menez's goal in the 50th minute helped the principality club to secure at least one point in the presence of their fans.
This round also unfolded unsuccessfully for the Parisian club "P.S.G", which had to admit the superiority of last season's vice-champion "Bordeaux" at home. The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute when Geraldo Mauricio Wendel scored. The capital club was unable to respond and three minutes before the end of the match, they were punished once again - Lilian Laslandes scored the second goal for his team.
Continuing to surprise French football specialists is the team of "Nancy". This time, "Nancy" defeated "Troyes" by a minimal result of 1-0 and currently occupies an unexpectedly high 4th place with as many points as "Lille" and "Lens". The only goal of this match was scored by Sebastien Puygrenier in the 77th minute.
