After the weekend matches of the French football championship "Ligue 1" 15th round, the leaders "Lyon" and "Lille" clubs increased their lead from pursuers even more.
Although both leading teams in the championship failed to beat their opponents, "Lyon" played a draw 0-0 with "P.S.G" even though they had one player more on the field since the 23rd minute, and "Lille" shared a point after a draw 1-1 with "Lens", however, both clubs managed to increase their lead from pursuers as they suffered unexpected defeats.
The surprise of the first round was recorded on Friday, when the last season's UEFA Champions League finalist "Monaco" had to admit the superiority of the French League Cup holder "Sochaux" with a score of 1-3.
On Saturday, two other teams considered favorites before the season also faced failures. The third-placed "Auxerre" was defeated 3-1 by "Strasbourg" and are now 5 points behind the second-placed "Lille", while "Marseille" had to acknowledge a 2-0 defeat by the underdog "Ajaccio".
The 6th-placed Bordeaux club took advantage of these teams' stumbles, as they defeated "Nantes" by a minimal score of 1-0 on Saturday and rose to the 4th position.
Once again, Edgaras Jankauskas' "Nice" failed to secure a victory. This time, the Nice team had to settle for a goalless draw with the league newcomer "Caen". The Lithuanian striker was not registered for the match due to injury.
