After the second round of matches in the French football championship "Ligue 1" played on Saturday, it became clear that the temporary leader of the championship is the team "Nancy", the winner of the League Cup last season.
"Nancy" won 3-1 at home against newcomer "Sedan" and now occupies the first place in the league table with six points after two rounds. The same number of points is also held by last season's vice-champion "Bordeaux" club, which on Saturday after a tough battle defeated another newcomer "Lorient" 1-0. However, "Bordeaux" is in second place due to a worse ratio of goals scored and conceded.
In the second round of this year's championship, the winner of the last five championships, the "Lyon" club, lost their first points by playing a draw at home with one of the tournament's underdogs, "Toulouse". Lyon's footballers took the lead after a goal by Florent Malouda in the 83rd minute, but in the last minute of the match, Fabinho managed to equalize.
Continuing to struggle since the start of the championship are traditionally mentioned as favorites before the start of the championship, the Paris "P.S.G" club. In the first round, the Parisians unexpectedly had to admit the advantage of the newcomer "Lorient", and this time they lost another two points in a battle with another club that has just returned to "Ligue 1" this season, "Valenciennes" - the match ended in a draw.
Another disappointment was experienced despite the changes in the club, as in the previous season, the currently unsuccessful "Monaco". This time, the principality team at home recognized the superiority of "Saint-Etienne" 1-2. The visitors took the lead after goals by Pascal Feindouno and Frederic Piquionne, and "Monaco" only softened the result in the 86th minute when Gerard successfully converted a penalty kick.
