On Saturday, the matches of the 22nd round of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played. With 16 rounds left in the championship, the "Lyon" club continues to lead confidently, with a 14-point advantage over the closest pursuers.
In this round, "Lyon" once again left no hope for their pursuers, defeating the newcomer "Nancy" 0-2 away. Both goals for the winning team were scored by Brazilians Cacapa and Fred.
Another important victory was achieved by the "Bordeaux" club, which maintained its second position by defeating the struggling "Monaco" club away with a minimal result after a tough battle. The only goal of the match was scored by Denilson in the 69th minute.
On the heels of Bordeaux in third place is the "Auxerre" club. The Auxerre players defeated the "Lens" team 1-0 thanks to a goal by Pegguy Luyindula at the end of the first half, lagging behind Bordeaux by just one point.
The "Lille" club also achieved a stunning victory and temporarily rose to fourth place, leaving no chances for the struggling "Sochaux" team at home, beating them 3-0. Worth mentioning is that Matt Moussilou scored the first goal of the match in just the first minute.
In the battle of outsiders, the "Strasbourg" club finally secured a victory of 2-1 and climbed out of last place in the standings by defeating "Metz" who were in 18th place. After this round, the "Ajaccio" team fell to the last place, scoring an own goal in the final minute of the match and thus conceding defeat to "Le Mans".
