On Saturday, eight matches of the third round of "Ligue 1" championship were played. The remaining two matches will be played on Sunday evening.
The "Rennes" club, who finished 5th last season, continues to tragically compete in this year's championship. Having suffered two defeats in the first two championship matches, the "Rennes" footballers could not resist their opponents in this round and had to admit the overwhelming advantage of the newcomer "Le Mans" with a score of 4-0. After this failure, "Rennes" became the absolute outsider of the championship.
Meanwhile, the team from the French capital, "P.S.G," can boast completely opposite results - in this round, after two goals from Pedro Pauleta, the Parisian club defeated the "Toulouse" team 2-0 and after three rounds, having three victories, became the leader of the championship.
Last year's vice-champion, the "Lille" club, is performing worse in the championship. After winning the first round, the "Lille" footballers played a draw in the second match, and this weekend they had to admit the advantage of the newcomer "Troyes" with a score of 1-2.
The "Sochaux" club won their first victory in the championship, snatching a 2-1 victory against Edgar Jankauskas's former "Nice" team thanks to two goals from the Brazilian Ilano. Meanwhile, the "Ajaccio" team continues to play fairly successfully, celebrating a 2-0 victory against "Nantes" this weekend after two draws in the previous rounds, who defeated "Marseille" in the last round.
