Over the weekend, the ninth round of the 31st French "Ligue 1" championship matches were played. The match between "Marseille" and "P.S.G" will be played late tonight.
A true goal fiesta took place on Saturday at the Lille Stade Grimonprez Jooris stadium, where the local "Lille" team in 4th place on the tournament table crushed the "Istres" team with 8-0. Matt Moussilou scored four goals in the "Istres" goal.
"Monaco", who climbed to third place after the last round, did not stay long in that position - in this round, the Monaco footballers unexpectedly lost 0-3 to the underdog "Ajaccio" and dropped to 4th place, conceding their position to the "Lille" club.
Another victory was achieved by the firmly leading "Lyon" team, aiming for another championship title. This time the "Lyon" champions defeated the "Lens" team with a minimal 1-0 lead after a goal by Juninho.
Edgaras Jankauskas' "Nice" team also secured a victory, beating the recently strong "Saint-Etienne" team 2-0. Jankauskas, who doesn't fit in Nice and is already starting to think about the end of the season, appeared on the field after a substitution near the end of the second half.
