Rudi Voller leaves the "Roma" club © EuroFootball.com

On Saturday evening, after an unexpected defeat where the team played most of the second half with nine players against eleven and lost 1-3, the head coach Rudis Voller announced his resignation. The capital club of Italy says his fate will be decided tomorrow.

"Voller submitted his resignation statement," said the club's sporting director Franco Baldini, and added that he will try to convince the coach to change his decision.

"I asked him to think about it carefully because he is not the only one responsible for the show we saw today. I asked him to decide when all the tension would fade, but Voller seems to have firmly decided to leave the club," said Baldini. "We will decide whether to accept Voller's resignation during tomorrow's morning training session. If Voller remains adamant, then we will make our decision."

Former German national team coach Rudis Voller took over the reins of Roma just two weeks before the start of the season, as the coach Cesare Prandelli stepped down due to his wife's illness.

Voller struggled to lead the team, and soon problems arose - first, the unpredictable Antonio Cassano began to rebel, and later the Champions League match against "Dinamo" was interrupted due to an injured referee Anders Frisk, who was hit by a coin.

Initially, Voller claimed he was not planning to resign, although he criticized the players, saying they lacked discipline. However, after accumulating only four points in four games and losing two matches in a row, the German decided to resign.
