"Zenit's" misfortune was also used by another Moscow team, "Lokomotiv", which defeated their city neighbors "Moskva" and moved up to second place.
The chances of still fighting for the championship title were significantly complicated by the Samara team "Krylja Sovetov", who had to admit defeat to Perm's "Amkar" in an away match.
The remaining four round matches will be played tomorrow.
