Russians started catching ticket scalpers

This week, the St. Petersburg police arrested the first ticket scalper for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, who was selling tickets for Portugal's and Morocco's matches at double the price, according to lrytas.lt.

According to the police, a 33-year-old unemployed resident of the Gatčino district wanted to sell tickets to the championship matches on June 20 at the Moscow "Luzhniki" stadium to buyers pretending to be police officers. For each pair of tickets, which have a face value of 12,500 rubles (171 euros), the scalper demanded 25,000 rubles (342 euros).

According to police representatives, the captured individual, under the newly adopted administrative penalties code for the championship in Russia, will have to pay a fine that is 20-25 times higher than the amount he was trying to sell the tickets for.

So the offending individual will have to pay about 8,500 euros.
