Although it seemed that Ruud van Nistelrooy's career in the Dutch national team was over, the football player was invited once again to put on the national team's jersey.
Within the ranks of the 'Oranje', the veteran will replace the injured Robin van Persie.
"I still believe that I could have been useful in the World Cup," said van Nistelrooy. "Although I have to admit that back then I was not 100 percent ready."
"I respect the decision of coach Bert van Marwijk and I am happy to have received another call-up. I did not expect to come back, but I am very pleased."
The striker representing "Hamburg" club was invited to the European Championship qualifying matches against San Marino and Finland.
