The Association of Professional Footballers in England recognized London forward Robin van Persie as the best player of the season in the Premier League.
The Dutch striker beat Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, Tottenham defender Scott Parker, and the Man City trio: striker Sergio Aguero, goalkeeper Joe Hart, and midfielder David Silva.
"I wouldn't have won this recognition without the contribution of my teammates. For example, Theo Walcott made more than 12 assists for me to score goals, so I am really grateful for this help," Van Persie said.
And he added: "It's nice to hear others recognize your skill, but it's even better to hear it from your opponents. You have to play against them every week, so it's a great honor."
In this Premier League season, the 28-year-old Dutchman has already scored 27 goals for Arsenal.
