S. Amrabat: 'Ten Hag wanted to keep me in the Manchester United ranks'

Sofyan Amrabat, who spent last season on loan at Manchester United, did not stay with the team this summer.

The 28-year-old Moroccan agreed to terms with Istanbul's Fenerbahce and played against his former team in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

However, Amrabat revealed that United's manager Erik ten Hag wanted to keep him in the team.

"I have a special bond with ten Hag since the days at Utrecht. In the summer, he wanted to keep me at Man Utd," Amrabat told the Daily Mail.

The Moroccan also hinted at who was responsible for his departure from Man Utd.

"The only thing I can say is that you should contact Mr. Jason Wilcox (Man Utd’s technical director - ed. note)," added Amrabat.
