S. Blatter and M. Platini complaints dismissed - they remain suspended

FIFA rejected the complaint filed by Sepp Blatter, who is still formally the organization's president, and Michel Platini, the president of UEFA, regarding their 90-day suspension from football activities. Due to this sanction, M. Platini is not allowed to run for FIFA presidency.

On November 12, FIFA announced a shortened list of candidates for the presidential elections, which will take place on February 26 next year. The disqualified candidate, UEFA president M. Platini, is not included in the list.

In October, the independent FIFA ethics committee suspended S. Blatter and M. Platini for 90 days on suspicion of corruption. The penalty means that both suspects cannot engage in any football-related activities during this period.

The ethics committee and the prosecutor's office are still investigating the purposes for which in 2011 S. Blatter transferred almost 2 million euros to M. Platini.

The latter's lawyers stated that they will challenge this FIFA decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland.
