Over the weekend there was no shortage of discussions in the English Premier League about the new handball interpretation, which led to a dramatic Manchester United victory against Brighton on Saturday, and a similar outcome on Sunday with Newcastle against Tottenham. Despite Newcastle earning a point due to the change in interpretation of the rule, team manager Steve Bruce called the situation simply ridiculous. "This is complete nonsense. We got lucky this time and I'm glad about it, but the handball rule is now ridiculous. Handball should only be penalized when it is done intentionally. It seems like in the Premier League we follow every word written in the rules. For example, in the Championship, where there is no VAR system, such a penalty would not have been given. I don't know who makes and corrects the rules, but we must ask them some questions," - S. Bruce said speaking to BeIN Sports.
