Sergio Busquets takes over the armband number of longtime "Barcelona" captain Carles Puyol, who ended his professional career this summer.
Having worn the armband marked with the number 16 for five years, in the new season he will wear sports gear marked with the number 5.
"It is a great honor for me. Carles was also very pleased when he found out that his number will be 'inherited' by me," said the defender.
With the new number armbands, S. Busquets will play in the upcoming friendly match on Saturday against the "Nice" club.
C. Puyol played with armbands marked with the number 5 for the past 12 seasons.
It is now clear what numbers the newcomers acquired by "Barcelona" chose this summer. Marc-Andre ter Stegen will play with armbands marked with the number 1, Claudio Bravo chose the number 13, Ivan Rakitić - number 4, Jeremy Mathieu - number 24. For now, unable to play due to suspension, Uruguayan Luis Suarez will wear armbands marked with the number 9.
