London's "Arsenal" midfielder Santi Cazorla's injury has recurred and he will not be able to return to the field for another five months.
The 32-year-old footballer injured his ankle and has not been playing since October, when he appeared in a UEFA Champions League match against Razgrad's "Ludogorets".
Initially, it was expected that the midfielder would only miss a few matches, but this week he underwent his eighth operation.
"They haven't told me yet when I can return," Cazorla told Cadena Ser. "It's very difficult to name a date, but I think it will be another five months."
"I last played in October. I have had eight operations, with the last one being on Monday. I hope the situation improves. I have been experiencing complications since November. During the surgeries, I got a bacterial infection, my bone was infected, the wound could not heal, and I had to undergo a skin graft."
"This has been the worst season of my career. I felt like giving up, but my passion for football is stronger than everything."
Before the match against "Ludogorets", Cazorla had played 11 games and scored two goals. The Spaniard also revealed that "Arsenal" took the opportunity to extend his contract, which was due to expire at the end of this season.
