During the winter of 2015, Sebastian Giovinco, who left Europe, revealed that he had the opportunity to wear Barcelona's club socks, but did not go to Spain for a simple reason - the footballer did not want to be a substitute.
The 30-year-old footballer, upon arriving in Toronto, had the opportunity to wear the Catalonia team's socks for half a season, but Giovinco understood that he would be a backup to Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, and Neymar.
"It's true," Giovinco said about the previous interest from Barcelona. "But I never took this interest seriously because I wanted to be a provider of assists, and there were already three prominent attacking stars in the team, so I would have been on the bench."
"It didn't interest me because I wanted playing time. Suarez, Messi, and Neymar could play with one leg, but I would still be a substitute, so this offer didn't appeal to me at all," added the Italian.
Giovinco is performing very successfully in the MLS - in 72 matches played for Toronto, the forward scored 45 goals.
