Despite the fact that Dortmund's "Borussia" has already managed to rise to the tenth position in the German championship, Sebastian Kehl says that the team has higher goals than just survival.
Just a month ago, Jurgen Klopp's pupils were in last place in the Bundesliga, but four consecutive victories allowed BvB to breathe a little.
At the moment, Dortmund is separated from relegation by fewer points than from a UEFA Champions League spot - Bayer Leverkusen is only ahead by eight points. However, before the match against Hamburg, Kehl dismissed talks about playing in the strongest European tournament and next season.
"This season we lost to Hamburg at home. This gave them some sort of rise," - the 35-year-old veteran told Ruhr Nachrichten.
"We hope that now we will be the ones to fight for three points. We definitely need them to achieve our goal."
"On this front, nothing has changed. Managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke and the coaches have set a goal of reaching 40 points and avoiding relegation. This is our top priority now."
On the other hand, developing in Europe is realistic for "Borussia" next season. Eliminating an 8 point gap over 11 rounds seems like a truly realistic task.
