28-year-old goalkeeper Simon Mignolet expressed dissatisfaction with the current situation at Liverpool and emphasized that he may leave the team if he does not receive the coach's trust.
S. Mignolet, who joined Liverpool in 2013, lost the role of the main goalkeeper in the team this season. Initially, the Belgian defended the red goal, but after an injury to Loris Karius, the latter lost his place in the starting lineup.
"It should be clear that I don't want to be the second goalkeeper," said S. Mignolet. "I want to play. I can't give up because it's not in my character. Also, I don't think it's the right time for me to sit on the bench."
"Of course, I will continue to work hard and not give up. Giving up everything would be foolish and not what I want to do. I see the current situation as a challenge that can be overcome. So, I hope that in the near future we will be able to solve this problem by showing good performance on the field," added the Belgian national team member.
S. Mignolet defended his team's goal on Tuesday when they clashed with London's Tottenham in the English League Cup. Klopp's proteges won the match 2-1.
