After securing the second place in the French "Ligue 1" and earning a spot in the UEFA Champions League, the defender of the club Samir Nasri told journalists after the match against "Saint-Etienne" that he wants to stay in Marseille and defend the club's colors in the Champions League.

Despite being only 19 years old, Nasri, voted as the best young French footballer, was one of the best players of Marseille this season, forming a very dangerous defensive duo with another French football talent, Franck Ribery.

After such a successful season, football specialists doubted whether Marseille would be able to keep one of their leaders, but Nasri himself stated that he does not intend to leave the team until his contract, which still has two years left, expires.

"Our club had to qualify for the Champions League," Nasri told L'Equipe. "Now Marseille is finally back where it should be."

"I have always dreamed of playing against clubs like Manchester United, Milan, or Real and now it is possible. For a young footballer like me, this is a new challenge and an opportunity to step up to the next level."

"Of course, next season I will defend the Marseille colors. It is true that we will have a discussion about my contract, but it is still valid for two more years and I do not intend to go anywhere."

The player also revealed that the main architect of the team's success this season was coach Alberto Emonas and admitted that next season the club will aim for even more - finally breaking Lyon's dominance in France and winning the Ligue 1 champions title.

"If I were asked to thank someone in the team for this season, without a doubt it would be Alberto Emonas. He gave me the opportunity to play in a new position 'behind the forwards', always trusted me, and I had to repay him with good performance," Nasri said.
