Having played a great game in Amsterdam, Sergio Ramos may have to miss the first quarterfinal match if Madrid's "Real" club reaches it.
The "Whites" won 2-1 against "Ajax" in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday. The return match will take place in Madrid, where "Real" will have to play without their captain.
In the 89th minute, Sergio Ramos received a yellow card, which was his fifth this season. Because of it, the defender will automatically have to miss the return match against "Ajax".
Initially, the mistake seemed normal, but Ramos' comment after the game caused a real storm on social media. When asked by a journalist if he deliberately committed the offense, Ramos snapped: "Looking at the result, I would be lying to say that it didn't cross my mind or that it wasn't something I thought about."
UEFA reacted to Ramos' comment and began an investigation. It should be clarified in the next two weeks whether the defender will have to miss the next two Champions League matches for the "artificial" yellow card.
The investigation was not initiated because of Ramos' mistake, but precisely because of his comment. If UEFA decides to punish him, the Spaniard will have to face the consequences of his long tongue.
The players of Madrid's "Real" team do not seem to learn from each other - last season, Dani Carvajal had to miss the first quarterfinal match after also deliberately receiving a yellow card in the group stage. However, in that case, there was clear evidence, while this time the investigation will be based on Ramos' words, which he later denied on his social media.
