Madrid's "Real" captain Sergio Ramos praised the team's performance after the match in Barcelona, but was disappointed with some of the referee's decisions.
The clash of the two Spanish giants at the "Camp Nou" stadium ended in a goalless draw. The Madrid team dominated the first half, but lacked sharpness in attack - out of 17 shots, only four were on target.
Two episodes in the first half sparked a lot of discussion, when the opponent's penalty area was possibly unlawfully stopped twice by Raphael Varane. Initially, Clement Lenglet clashed with him, and later Ivan Rakitic held him behind the markers.
However, these episodes went unnoticed by both the referees and the VAR.
"After the first half we saw these episodes - they were two clear penalties. VAR is there to help the referee, but this time luck was not on our side.
We can't do anything about it. I have no doubt that someday we will commit fouls ourselves, and VAR won't react to it," shared S. Ramos.
Talking about the team's performance, the defender added: "We can't be happy with the result, but it's not bad. It's not easy to come to the 'Camp Nou' and play the way we did.
We more or less controlled the game, created many more chances, but a few mistakes ultimately led to a goalless result."
