S. Širmelis joined the coaches of "Kaunas Žalgiris

“Kauno Žalgiris” football club received an addition to the coaching staff - Saulius Širmelis has joined the working coaches.

The football specialist has accumulated four decades of coaching experience, and has also worked as a sports director for football clubs.

Throughout his career, the strategist has coached teams in Lithuania such as Ukmergė's "Vienybė", Vilnius' "Žalgiris", "Panevėžys", Kaunas' "Atleto", "Šiauliai", Panevėžys' "Ekrano", Marijampolė's "Sūduva" and FBK "Kaunas".

The former footballer has also worked in Latvia ("Ventspils" and "Jelgava"), Slovakia ("Tatran"), Finland ("Atlantis"), Sweden ("Eskilstuna"), and Kazakhstan ("Akzhayik", "Ordabasy", and "Shakhter").

With FBK "Kaunas" club, S. Širmelis became a Lithuanian champion three times, and with the Ventspils team he lifted the Latvian Cup twice.

The new member of the "Kauno Žalgiris" coaching staff has also worked in the coaching staff of the Lithuanian national team during his career, as well as coaching the Lithuanian and Kazakhstani U-21 national teams.
