S. Vrevenas debut in Panevėžys - successful

The new head coach of „Panevėžys“ Stijn Vreven made his debut in the 16th round of the „TOPsport A League“ facing the challenge of the team from Saulės miestas. Unfortunately, the first attempt was unsuccessful - with the result of 2:0 (1:0) the victory was claimed by FA „Šiauliai“.

Panevėžys scored their goal already in the 12th minute - after a pass from Ernestas Veliulis, Federico Palacios made an impressive shot into the far corner of the goal. In the 20th minute, the score could have doubled when Markas Beneta attempted from distance, but the ball shook the goal frame. Shortly after, E. Veliulis made a dangerous run and shot at goal, however, it missed slightly.

In the 40th minute, M. Beneta went down the right flank and sent the ball to Sivertas Gussias, but his attempt was stopped by Lukas Paukštelis, in the 59th minute the goalkeeper dealt with M. Beneta's shot. In the 64th minute, Davis Ikauniekas took a long shot, but the ball whistled past the goal, and shortly after, Eligijus Jankauskas's shot shook the goal frame.

In the 74th minute, the visitors conceded another goal - Noel Mbo, receiving a good pass and finding himself alone in front of the goal, was accurate. Just a few minutes later, Tomas Švedkauskas stopped D. Ikauniekas's shot.

In the final minute of regular time, the ball gratefully escaped Sigitas Olberkis, who was very close to the goal, shaking the rectangle.

After the 16th round of the „TOPsport A League“, „Panevėžys“ rose to the 9th position in the standings with 15 points, while „Šiauliai“ have 17 points and are ranked higher on the ladder.
