The first meeting of the French championship took place between the football players of "Saint-Etienne" and "Strasbourg".
For the pupils of the new coach Julien Sable, this was a great opportunity to break the unsuccessful series at home and record the first victory since mid-October, as the opponent of the evening is currently struggling in the relegation zone.
Things initially went well for the hosts, and in the 41st minute Hernani scored a great long-range goal. However, before the break, the whistle became equal after Jean Aholou's goal.
In the second half, after playing for 11 minutes, Kevin Monnet-Paquet once again took "Saint-Etienne" team into the lead, but the joy did not last long, as Florentinas Pogba committed a foul in the penalty area and Jonas Martin converted a penalty kick.
The hosts later maintained a slight territorial advantage, but were unable to convert it into a third goal, so the match ended in a draw. Because of this, Sable's squad could drop significantly in the weekend, and the points scored by the "Strasbourg" team will be crucial in the fight for survival.
