Thursday evening saw another match of the French Cup take place. It featured "Saint-Etienne", currently in fifth place in the top division, against "AC Ajaccio" in the sixteenth position in "Ligue 2". Before the match, an easy victory was expected for the home team from "Ligue 1", but the game turned out a bit differently. Although in the 10th minute Jean-Christophe Bahebeck scored for "Saint-Etienne", the hosts failed to break the "Ajaccio" defense for the rest of the game, and in the 86th minute the visitors' goalkeeper Rayan Frikeche equalized the score. The favorites also had to struggle in extra time, but eventually they demonstrated a winner's mentality and celebrated victory after Benjamin Corgnet scored in the 120th minute. Interestingly, former Klaipeda "Atlantas" forward Andrejus Paniukovas appeared for "Ajaccio" in this match. Meanwhile, the players of "Saint-Etienne" earned a ticket to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
