Almost 200 thousand inhabitants celebrate in the French city of St. Etienne - the city's team, after a slightly extended three-year break, will play again in the highest French football league - Ligue 1.

Yesterday, they secured their place in the top league by defeating the players of "Niort", who were in sixth place, with a score of 1-0. In this match, "Saint-Etienne" would have needed a draw to secure promotion.

Now, the players trained by Frederico Antonetti lead the Ligue 1 and have gathered 69 points, being 15 points ahead of fourth place, which will not qualify for the highest league.

"Saint-Etienne" is the most successful club in France, with a total of 10 titles.

Competing for second and third places, which also grant the right to play in Ligue 1, are the clubs "Caen", "Istres", "Lorient", and "Amiens".
