Former Spanish national team player Salva Ballesta returned to his former club, with which he signed a four-year contract, the Spanish club announced on Friday.

The thirty-year-old Spaniard was recently released from the team of "Valencia". The new club coach, Quique Florezas, told Salva that he does not feature in the club's future plans, so the striker agreed to terminate the contract that had two more years to run.

Salva, the top scorer in the Spanish second division in 2000 and in the top league in 2001, moved to "Valencia" for a sum of 10.5 million US dollars in July 2001, but he did not find a place in the main lineup of the current team led by "Liverpool" strategist Rafael Benitez.

In 2003, Salva was loaned to the "Bolton" team, but this period was not successful in his career. Nevertheless, the striker managed to shine again - in the following years, he played for the "Malaga" club under a loan agreement and scored 19 goals.

Last season, he returned to Madrid's "Atletico", where he played his most successful years of his career in 2000-2001, but he failed to shine and only scored seven goals.
