"Liverpool" club will receive reinforcements in attack this upcoming winter.
Reports that the UEFA Champions League winners are targeting 24-year-old Japanese player Takumi Minamino have been confirmed by his representative team.
"Sky Sports" announced on Thursday that "Liverpool" has started negotiations with "Salzburg" club. The "Reds" were attracted by the player's very attractive price - his contract with "Salzburg" includes a modest £7.25 million release clause.
"I can confirm that discussions are currently ongoing with Liverpool," said "Salzburg" sporting director Christoph Freund. "It is a great honor for us that a club like Liverpool is interested in our player."
The Japanese-born footballer typically plays on the right wing, but can also play on the left and in an attacking midfielder position.
This season, T. Minamino has scored nine goals and made 11 assists in 22 games.
