The "Lech" club from Poznan is facing UEFA sanctions for a chauvinistic fan poster directed against Lithuanians. Prior to the Europa League third qualifying round match against Vilnius "Zalgiris," a huge poster was raised in the Polish fans' stand with the inscription "Lithuanian bastards, kneel before the Polish masters." Such messages should not be surprising, as even when visiting Vilnius, "Lech" supporters chanted of intending to take back the Lithuanian capital and return it to Poland. "I did not see the match, so it is difficult for me to comment, but such a gesture is offensive and chauvinistic. Everything will depend on how the situation will be described in the UEFA delegate's report. UEFA will decide whether to punish "Lech,"" said Jakub Kwiatkowski, a representative of the Polish Football Association. "Zalgiris" responded to these insults with football arguments and eliminated "Lech" from further competition.
