Saviola agreed to reduce his salary (Revised) © EuroFootball.com

The forward of the Spanish superclub, Argentine Javier Saviola, has agreed to negotiate with the Catalan club for a new contract and thus reduce his salary.

For a long time, the Argentine forward refused to review the contract, leading to speculation that he could leave the club in the summer. However, now the player has finally agreed to start negotiations.

"I don't want any ambiguity. I am happy in Barcelona and hope that we can reach an agreement that satisfies both sides," said Saviola.

The player also revealed that next year he will have dual citizenship: "Almost everything is sorted out, and next year I should play as a citizen of the European Union."

This is very good news for "Barca," as in the Spanish championship matches, only three non-European Union citizens can be registered.
