S.Blatter triumphs - L.Figo withdrew from the election

The list of contenders for the FIFA presidency is melting faster than snow in spring.

The initiative to run for the FIFA presidency by the head of the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) Michael van Praag has been withdrawn and the legendary Portuguese footballer Luis Figo.

"In recent months, I have not seen any desire for change. I have witnessed only a few episodes in various parts of the world. Such actions should be a shame for everyone who wants football to be free, fair, and democratic," Figo wrote in his statement.

"With my own eyes, I have seen how federation presidents compare FIFA leaders to the devil one day, but when they step on stage, they change their tune and compare him with Jesus Christ.

Candidates were not allowed to contact federations and participate in congresses, while one election participant could always make favorable speeches from the platform. There were no public debates about the candidates' proposals.

The election process is designed for one person only, and I refuse to participate in it. I sincerely thank everyone who has supported me and urge you to continue to believe in the hope that renewal will happen someday."

In the FIFA presidential elections, S. Blatter has only one competitor left to overcome - Jordan's Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein.
