Scandal in African Football: Nigeria's national football team was trapped in Liberia's airport for over half a day

In African football – a scandal that has echoed loudly throughout the football world.

The Nigerian national football team is complaining about being stuck at Libyan airport for more than half a day.

Nigerian center-back William Troost-Ekong wrote on his X account: "We have been held captive at the airport in Libya for more than 12 hours after our plane was redirected to fly in another direction.

The Libyan government canceled our scheduled landing in Benghazi for no reason. They locked the airport gates and left us without phone signal, food, or drinks. They are playing with us like this.”

I have experienced various issues playing in Africa before, but this is shameful behavior,” lamented the best player of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Other Nigerian footballers, including Victor Boniface, also complained about this situation.

Finally, after complaints on social media, the Nigerian team found a way to leave Libya. They spent more than 16 hours there.
