Scandal in Spain: "Real" club will be kicked out of the King's Cup tournament for their stupidity

On Wednesday evening, the Madrid "Real" team made a violation in the King's Cup (Copa del Rey) match against the "Cadiz" team, for which Pamplona's "Osasuna" was expelled from the tournament last year. Will the Spanish Football Federation remain principled and do the same with "Real"?

The "Real" club won 3:1 against the "Cadiz" team on Wednesday, with Russian player Denis Cheryshev scoring the first goal, even though he was not eligible to play in the match.

The 24-year-old winger, who played for "Villarreal" last season, received three yellow cards and a one-match suspension in the Copa del Rey tournament. Since "Villarreal" withdrew from the tournament last season, Cheryshev's suspension carried over to this season.

The Spanish Football Federation does not adjust team rosters for matches. Clubs must know themselves which of their players are eligible to play and which are not.

D.Cheryshev was substituted with Mateo Kovacic in the 46th minute.

In September, the "Osasuna" club was expelled from the Copa del Rey under the same circumstances. Unai Garcia played in a match against "Mirandes" despite having a valid suspension from the previous season.

The "Cadiz" club has already filed a complaint about this incident and it is only a matter of time before it is officially clarified that the royal club's appearance in the King's Cup ends as soon as it begins.
