Gelsenkirchen's "Schalke" is planning to acquire London's "Tottenham" midfielder Rafael van der Vaart this summer.
Reports have appeared in the German press that the club is seriously interested in attracting this player and hopes to do so as quickly as possible.
The further career path of the 29-year-old footballer is currently unclear, as the Dutchman himself recently expressed his dissatisfaction with his team and intends to leave.
During a friendly match between the Dutch and Bulgarian national teams, the player was asked about his future career.
"I really can't answer that question now because all my focus is on the upcoming 2012 European Championship," said the Dutchman.
The Gelsenkirchen team also seriously considers a contract with forward Salomon Kalou, who is not currently affiliated with London's "Chelsea" team.
