Gelsenkirchen's "Schalke" chairman Clemens Tonnies denies all media reports about a possible departure of Joel Matip.
Rumors have recently spread in the English press that "Liverpool" is seriously interested in acquiring the 24-year-old center-back and defensive midfielder. However, C. Tonnies calls these reports false and assures that the Cameroonian will definitely not leave the "Schalke" team this winter.
"Will Matip move to 'Liverpool' this month? These are false reports," one of the "Schalke" officials told "Sport1" television without beating around the bush.
Born in Germany but wearing the national team jersey of Cameroon, J. Matip has spent his entire career in Gelsenkirchen. This season, the defender has appeared 23 times on the field and scored four goals.
