The club competing in the Bundesliga has declined the services of head coach Jupp Heynckes. It is not yet clear who will become the new team strategist.

This season, "Schalke" won the Intertoto Cup tournament and earned the right to continue competing in the UEFA Cup. However, the team is not performing well in the Bundesliga. In the last round, "Schalke" lost 0-3 to an away team and with only three points from four matches, the Germans are currently in sixteenth place.

In the summer, the club aimed to compete for a top spot in the championship after adding striker Ailton and defenders Mladen Krstajic and Marcelo Bordon. Unfortunately, the new season's start - one win and three losses - is the worst for the club in the last 11 years.

Last season, under J. Heynckes' leadership, "Schalke" finished 7th in the German championship. The coach himself received criticism in the summer for the decision to release several senior players and replace them with inexperienced youth team players.

On Thursday, "Schalke" is set to face a Latvian club in the UEFA Cup matches.
