On Friday, the first 9th round matches of the German "Bundesliga" championship were played.
Gelsenkirchen's "Schalke" hosted "Mainz" at home. "Schalke" ended their winless streak and achieved victory with a score of 2-0.
In the 13th minute, Leon Goretzka put the hosts ahead, and Guido Burgstaller sealed the victory in the 74th minute.
"Schalke" had not won in three matches before - they had suffered two losses and played once in a draw. Now they have 13 points and are in sixth position.
Meanwhile, "Mainz" dropped to 11th place with 10 points.
