During the German league match that took place on Saturday, an unusual episode was recorded - although defenders rarely receive admiring looks from fans, Munich's "Bayern" player Mats Hummels is worthy of their greatest sympathies, writes lrytas.lt.
In the 18th minute of the match against Frankfurt's "Eintracht", with the score at 0-0, the latter's forward Branimir Hrgota found himself completely alone in front of Manuel Neuer after a clever pass from a teammate.
However, M. Hummels unexpectedly interfered with his attempt to score and shoot into the empty goal, playing the risky situation very precisely and taking the ball directly from under B. Hrgota's feet.
The latter did not even appeal for a penalty kick, but thanked M. Hummels - after the successful episode, Bayern's goalkeeper was able to win the match 3-0.
