On Wednesday morning, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the final list of three contenders to win the 2022 "African Footballer of the Year" award. Former teammates Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are once again among the main candidates to win this award. Both of them, with Liverpool last season, won the Carabao and FA Cups, finished second in the local championship, and became Champions League runners-up. However, S. Mane also won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal this year and led his native country to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
