On Sunday, the last two matches of the 37th round of the Spanish "La Liga" championship were played.
A true football sensation took place in Valencia, where the local team "Levante" clashed with "Barcelona". Throughout the season, "Levante" fought for survival and managed to send five goals into the Catalans' net, thus ending their unbeaten streak, although Ernesto Valverde's players managed to bring intrigue back with a sensational 5-1 result.
The Catalans started the match without their leader - Lionel Messi was not registered for the evening.
The problems began right at the start of the match. In the 9th minute, Emmanuel Boateng put "Levante" ahead, and by the 30th minute, they were already leading by two goals.
In the 38th minute, "Barca" managed to reduce the deficit, and Coutinho's goal brought back hopes of fighting for a victory.
However, at the start of the second half, the situation for "Barcelona" unraveled in a way that probably has never happened in the history of the club. "Levante" scored three goals in the first ten minutes against the Catalans, and the result became embarrassing - 5:1.
Enis Bardhi added two more goals, and E. Boateng scored another goal completing a hat-trick.
Just when it seemed like "Barcelona" would be crushed, Coutinho began to demonstrate his skills. The Brazilian scored two goals in five minutes and completed a hat-trick, reducing the deficit to two goals.
Hopes of at least equalizing did not fade - in the 71st minute, Luis Suarez converted a penalty kick. The Catalans made every effort in the opponents' half for the remainder of the time, but could not find the equalizer.
The "Levante" team became the first to defeat "Barca" in the "La Liga" championship this season. The Catalans hoped to make history by finishing the season without a single defeat, but E. Valverde failed to achieve these goals.
Elsewhere, the match ended with a convincing victory for Barcelona's "Espanyol" over "Malaga".
