The third stage of the English League Cup on Wednesday evening brought a bouquet of surprises.
First of all, Arsenal lost 1-3 at home to Brighton and thus left the tournament.
West Ham United played 2-2 at home against Blackburn in regular time, and the visitors won 10-9 in the penalty shootout.
In the main match of the third stage, Manchester City beat Chelsea 2-0 after goals from Juliano Alvarezo and Riyad Mahrez.
Another London team fell in Nottingham, where the local Forest convincingly defeated Antonio Conte's disciples 2-0, despite the fact that they played with the strongest lineup.
Liverpool narrowly escaped with Derby County. The main time ended 0-0, and in the penalty shootout, the "Reds" were already behind 1-2 at one point, but Caoimhin Kelleher helped his team to climb out of trouble.
