Serbia officially apologized to Italy for the hooligans causing trouble during the European Championship qualifying match.

The game that took place in the city of Genoa, Italy, was initially delayed for almost an hour and was ultimately stopped after playing for a few minutes because Serbian fans threw pyrotechnic devices onto the field and clashed with the police.

Additionally, they attacked local fans and the bus of the Serbian national team.

Police detained 17 hooligans who caused havoc and left the stadium.

Serbia's Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić, who delivered the official apology on behalf of the country's leaders, assured that efforts will be made to apprehend all the criminals.

UEFA has also launched an investigation into this incident, and Serbia faces not only a technical defeat of 0-3 but also elimination from the entire qualifying cycle.
