It seems that even the dismissal of coach Stefano Pioli did not help Milan's "Inter" team. The "Fashion Capital" team suffered another defeat in the first match of the day in Serie A against "Sassuolo."
Inter started the match more actively and had several good opportunities, with team captain Mauro Icardi hitting the crossbar almost half an hour into the game. However, a mistake by Jeison Murillo before halftime allowed Pietro Iemmello to put the opponents ahead.
Afterwards, "Sassuolo" players had several good opportunities, and their lead was doubled early in the second half by the same Iemmello. Despite trailing, Milan's club tried to fight back, and they managed to score a goal through a substitution appearance by Eder, but ultimately Eusebio Di Francesco's players held on.
Following this setback, Inter dropped to eighth place, where they can't even hope to qualify for the UEFA Europa League. This was the fourth consecutive defeat for Nerazzurri, and the last time they won in the Italian championship was on March 12th against Bergamo's Atalanta.
Shortly after, seven more matches were played.
One of them resulted in a great victory for Napoli, temporarily moving up to second place, as they defeated Torino away. Jose Callejon scored the first goal after Allan's pass in the seventh minute, and Maurizio Sarri's team continued to play actively.
In the first half, they failed to increase their lead, but Lorenzo Insigne played an hour in this match. Dries Mertens, with a pass from Insigne, scored in the 72nd minute, and shortly after Callejon scored another goal, followed by a goal from substitute Piotr Zielinski.
Finally, the referee added just one minute of stoppage time, allowing Napoli to celebrate a crucial victory in the fight for silver. Interestingly, they could still theoretically compete for the Scudetto.
Also, "Crotone" earned three vital points by defeating "Udinese" at home with a minimal result. Marcus Rohden's only goal allows Davide Nicola's side to come close to just one point of "Empoli," currently in 17th place.
Empoli came close to equalizing against Cagliari, but they ran out of time after conceding three goals.
In the evening, the fate of the title was decided in the match between "Roma" and Turin's "Juventus."
