In the first match, Turin's Juventus, who had already secured the champion's title, defeated Milan's Inter 2-1 as guests, crushing their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League. Inter took the lead in the match with Mauro Icardi, but Claudio Marchisio successfully converted a penalty kick at the end of the first half, and in the 83rd minute, Juventus extended their lead with a goal by Champions League semifinalist Alvaro Morata. In another match for the second position in the league table, Rome's Lazio also secured a narrow victory as guests against Genoa's Sampdoria who occupied the seventh position.
