On Saturday night, the first matches of the 25th round of the Italian championship between Rome's "Lazio" and Verona's "Hellas" were played.
Playing at home, the capital's footballers celebrated an important victory and temporarily rose to seventh place, leaving their opponents at the bottom of the league table.
Stefano Pioli's team opened the scoring with a goal from Alessandro Matri at the end of the first half, and Stefano Mauri doubled "Lazio's" lead immediately after the break. In the 69th minute, Felipe Anderson scored, increasing the difference to a convincing one, however, "Hellas" did not give up.
After a few moments, the visitors reduced the deficit, Leandro Greco. Seven minutes after this strike, Verona's veteran Luca Toni revived his team's hopes.
Nevertheless, the hosts justified their favorites status and redeemed themselves after a precise strike from Balde Diao Keita and a penalty converted by Antonio Candreva.
