63-year-old Joaquin Caparros, who was leading the "Sevilla" team until the end of the season, shared a very sad news after the victory in the Spanish championship.
On Sunday, "Sevilla" won 2-0 against "Real Valladolid" and continues to fight for a place in the UEFA Champions League.
After the victory, in an interview with the president and sports director of "Sevilla", J. Caparrosas announced that he has been diagnosed with chronic leukemia. This is a slowly growing cancer of white blood cells (lymphocytes).
"I have this disease, but I can still live a normal life. It does not affect my work. I want to continue enjoying my job," the coach said.
J. Caparrosas has been serving as the sports director of "Sevilla" for most of this season, but after Pablo Machin was dismissed, he took over the team until the end of the season.
